Work Agreement: 185 Days 

Schedule: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm  

Starting Hourly pay is $16.88 and is based on related job experience

Date Available: August 6, 2025 

 

 

Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for a nutrition service technician to begin with the 2025-2026 school year.

Essential Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Food Service experience preferred
  3. Work well with children
  4. First aid knowledge preferred
  5. Satisfactory completion of criminal background check

 

Performance Responsibilities and Job Tasks: 

 

  1. Preparing, portioning, and serving food and beverages.
  2. Cashiering and maintaining accurate records of payments.
  3. Cleanup duties: clean and organize eating, service, and food preparation areas, wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other cooking equipment to ensure cleanliness and functional operation, and proper storage of leftovers.  
  4. Arrange tables and decorations according to instructions. 
  5. Compile and maintain records of food and beverage use and expenditures. 
  6. Plan or assist with meeting special dietary or nutritional restrictions of students. 
  7. Take inventory of supplies and equipment and notify cafeteria personnel of shortages and defective equipment.  
  8. Train or assist with the training of new employees. 
  9. Adhere to all federal and State USDA regulations and State and local Food Codes.
  10. Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal or other supervisors.
  11. Serve as a role model to all students.
  12. Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image in the community.
  13. Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students. 
  14. Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
  15. Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
  17. Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).

 

 

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to all Federal and State USDA regulations and State and local Food Codes.
  2. Inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas in order to ensure functional operation.
  3. Develop and maintain a positive, professional rapport with students, parents, and co-workers.
  4. Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal, or other supervisors.
  5. Participates in professional development activities to meet professional standard requirements.
  6. Reads and responds to emails pertaining to the position and overall school environment.

 

 

FLSA Exempt Status: Non-exempt 

 

 

At-Will Position.   

 

This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.

 

  

Essential Functions: 

 

The essential functions of the Cafeteria Worker position include: (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and performance responsibilities which require effective teaching and communication skills; and (3) the ability to perform the following identified physical requirements.
