Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for district maintenance to start immediately.
This position is full time; 260 days, 8 hours per day. Benefits include full family health insurance, sick and personal leave. This position is open until filled.
Essential Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED/or equivalent experience
- CDL license with a clean driving record or ability to get a CDL
- Custodial/Maintenance experience preferred
- First aid knowledge preferred
- Experience working with children preferred
- Successful completion of background check
Job Tasks:
Assist as directed with the following items:
- Custodial Work
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Notify supervisors concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Grounds Work
- Mow grass
- Weed-eat/edge around building-signs-sidewalks, etc.
- Clear sidewalks of debris and grass clippings
- Maintain flower/rock beds - trim, pull weeds, fill with rock or mulch as needed
- Spray weeds/ pull weeds from: beds, sidewalks, around buildings, etc.
- Maintain entrances - sweep/blow off front entrance/sidewalks, pick up trash, etc.
- Pick up trash and tree limbs/branches on grounds
- Run sprinklers
3. Student Transportation
- Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
- Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
- Comply with traffic regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Follow safety rules as students are loading and exiting vehicles.
- Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules.
- Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
- Escort small children across roads and highways.
- Keep van or car interiors clean for passengers.
Other Responsibilities:
