Hourly Pay Starts at $17.17 and is based on related job experience

 

Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for district maintenance to start immediately.  

This position is full time; 260 days, 8 hours per day. Benefits include full family health insurance, sick and personal leave. This position is open until filled. 

 

 

Essential Requirements: 

  1. High School Diploma or GED/or equivalent experience
  2. CDL license with a clean driving record or ability to get a CDL
  3. Custodial/Maintenance experience preferred
  4. First aid knowledge preferred
  5. Experience working with children preferred
  6. Successful completion of background check

 

Job Tasks: 

Assist as directed with the following items:  

  1. Custodial Work
    1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
    2. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
    3. Gather and empty trash.
    4. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
    5. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
    6. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
    7. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
    8. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies. 
    9. Notify supervisors concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  2. Grounds Work
    1. Mow grass
    2. Weed-eat/edge around building-signs-sidewalks, etc.
    3. Clear sidewalks of debris and grass clippings
    4. Maintain flower/rock beds - trim, pull weeds, fill with rock or mulch as needed 
    5. Spray weeds/ pull weeds from: beds, sidewalks, around buildings, etc. 
    6. Maintain entrances - sweep/blow off front entrance/sidewalks, pick up trash, etc. 
    7. Pick up trash and tree limbs/branches on grounds
    8. Run sprinklers 

     

      3. Student Transportation

    1. Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
    2. Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
    3. Comply with traffic regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
    4. Follow safety rules as students are loading and exiting vehicles. 
    5. Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules.
    6. Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
    7. Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
    8. Escort small children across roads and highways.
    9. Keep van or car interiors clean for passengers.
