We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to serve as a Scholar Leader for credit recovery and EL interventions at the high school this summer.  In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Assistant Principal to coordinate Cardinal Scholars. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from organizing and managing scholar programming to overseeing logistical and administrative functions. This position requires a proactive approach to coordinating scholar instructors, managing schedules, supervising student activities, and ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for all participants. 

 

The position reports directly to the building’s Assistant Principal and the district’s Summer Oversight Directors (Chief Academic Officer and Director of Federal Programs).

  • Accurately input Personnel Action Requests (PAR) for new hires and update existing employee PARs for Cardinal Scholar instructors using TylerTech.
  • Effectively coordinate and confirm work schedules with each instructor and arrange for substitute staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with camp instructors to finalize camp names, supply wish lists, daily activity plans, and backup activities, ensuring a well-prepared and engaging camp experience.
  • Sort and manage student registrations, ensuring accurate enrollment records.
  • Distribute devices daily for Infinite Campus access and maintain a reference document with login credentials for each instructor and summer staff member.
  • Monitor student attendance and provide devices to instructors for Infinite Campus access, particularly for non-CPS employees.
  • Conduct an inventory of supplies at the end of the summer, ensuring accurate tracking and management of resources.
  • Manage and coordinate student health needs with parents, the School Nurse, and/or Assistant Principal, ensuring student wellbeing.
  • Ensure Nurses prepare emergency bags, and then distribute daily.
  • Collaborate with custodial staff to secure classroom spaces, ensuring suitable environments for learning.
  • Ensure all activities are pre-approved and remain onsite unless specifically authorized, with no unscheduled offsite activities or additional costs for students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Programs to coordinate and align the HAL sessions embedded within Cardinal Summer.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to coordinate and align the Life Skills sessions embedded within Cardinal Summer.

Shared duties with Assistant Principal

  • Actively assist in the management and oversight of Cardinal Scholars at the high school.
  • Serve as primary contacts for all summer programming within the building, ensuring efficient communication and coordination.
  • Work as key authority figures, collectively overseeing all aspects of summer programming, ensuring its smooth and effective operation.
  • Utilize Infinite Campus to meticulously monitor and manage student attendance for Cardinal Scholars.
  • Efficiently organize and secure a designated space for the storage of supplies during and after the summer period.
  • Address and manage student behaviors according to building protocols, collaborating closely with the School Counselor and School Nurse for effective resolutions.
  • Ensure that students are arriving and departing at the correct times and on the correct buses, maintaining a safe and orderly transportation process.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with Activity Directors and coaches, particularly regarding logistical aspects like transportation and staffing for athletic camps.

General

  • Duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining daily attendance is essential during the four full weeks of summer programming from June 2 through June 27.
  • Your presence is only required during the Cardinal Scholar morning time (AM sessions only). 
  • These efforts will begin upon hire and conclude approximately July 2, or as duties have been fulfilled.
