Purpose

The purpose of the Academy Partnership Liaison at Crete High School is to develop partnerships and to serve as the liaison between the academies, the community, business partners and higher education institutions.  These partnerships are critical to providing authentic educational opportunities for students preparing to pursue their college and/or career choices.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Know and understand the middle school and high school academy model, including, but not limited to, the profile of a graduate, the continuum of experiences, small learning communities, etc.
  2. Serve as the Academies of Crete High School liaison for business, community, and post-secondary engagement for academies.
  3. Join and attend community organizations (Chamber, Rotary, etc.) and other meetings for the purpose of networking, enhancing partnerships, and providing experiential learning opportunities for students.
  4. Know and understand the Nebraska Department of Education CTE Framework, including Rule 47 and promote and support the implementation and documentation of the National Standards of Practice (NSOP) for academy accreditation.
  5. Serve as the liaison between the school and district in developing and sustaining academies, including the submission of budgets, purchase orders, and other requested information.
  6. In partnership with district and school leadership teams, implement the current Crete Public Schools strategic plan.
  7. Support the completion of action plans, calendars of events, and budgets for academies as established by academy teams.
  8. Coordinate and implement advisory boards in accordance with the advisory board bylaws.
  9. Coordinate with business partners and the school to maintain accurate community investment data for official business and community partner involvement.
  10. Communicate academy information with the community and outside media.
  11. Coordinate academy-related experiential learning experiences, including, but not limited to, transportation to and from work-based learning experiences, job fairs, college fairs, field trips, job shadows, student internships, teacher externships, and guest speakers.
  12. Coordinate, plan, and provide oversight to the Crete Academies Capstone Experience.
  13. Provide ongoing training and support to business, industry, and higher education partners on effectively working with high school students.
  14. Collaborate with school administration and Advisory Boards to review academy programs of study and recommend program modifications.
  15. Lead and organize academy advisory board meetings.
  16. Facilitate the organization and implementation of academy open houses and school tours.
  17. Regularly attend academy team meetings to provide support and guidance for academy initiatives as directed by the school administration.
  18. Serve along with the high school administration to support The Crete High student ambassadors.
  19. Collect, analyze, and communicate academy data (including academy enrollment, experiential learning, industry certifications, academy-related dual credit / dual enrollment, attendance, and graduation rate, among others)
  20. Work with district and school administration on student engagement opportunities.
  21. As directed by the high school principal, engage in school leadership initiatives or other assigned tasks, such as serving on the master scheduling team or school leadership team, to align Crete Academies initiatives and protocols with school operations.

Position Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  2. Task-oriented with demonstrated transformational leadership experience in an educational setting
  3. A proven track record of securing resources and being resourceful.
  4. Create and deliver engaging presentations 
  5. The ability to interact with diverse groups of people
  6. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the use of project management software
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with large public audiences
  8. Able to demonstrate a passion for and to promote the high school academy philosophy
  9. Experience (or the ability) to work with business, community agencies, and post-secondary institutions is preferred
  10. Awareness of innovative public education practices
  11. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

  2. Climatic Environment: Primarily inside, travel between schools requires exposure to weather conditions.
  3. Hazards: Those associated with travel throughout the community and being in schools.
  4. Mental Demands: Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.  Ability to work under stressful conditions related to small and large group presentations and board presentations.
  5. Physical Demands: Ability to work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time (3 hours or more without a break).  Ability to lift and carry 15-20 pounds occasionally.
