Reports to: Director of Activities 

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Director of Activities annually  

Stipend: $1,022.22

Paid September - June 

 

Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for High School Quiz Bowl Sponsor. 

This position is open until filled. 



 

Essential Requirements: 

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Must possess a Nebraska Coaching Certificate at all times during employment with such endorsements as required by NDE Rule 10
  3. First Aid and CPR training required (may be obtained on the job and must be kept current)
  4. Must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license with a certificate to operate a school vehicle
  5. Coaching/Sponsor experience preferred but not required
  6. Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism 
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish trust and rapport with teachers and administrators
  8. Successful completion of background check

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Promote the physical, mental, moral, social and emotional well-being of the student participants.
  2. Promote appreciation of discipline and good sportsmanship.
  3. Promote an extracurricular activity program that represents the school in a positive manner.
  4. Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions that will efficiently develop individual skills without interfering with academic and other commitments of the participants and that will actively involve all participants.
  5. Instruct individuals or groups in activity rules, strategies, and performance principles.
  6. Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
  7. Coach competitive activities with the objective of competitive success tailored to making the experience enjoyable and rewarding to the students. 
  8. Maintain composure, keeping emotions, anger, and aggressive behavior in check, even in very difficult situations, so as to demonstrate good sportsmanship.
  9. Provide for the reasonable care and safety of students under the sponsor’s supervision.
  10. Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned activity is conducted at all times that students are present.
  11. Ensure a positive environment free of hazing, harassment, bullying and intimidating language and behaviors.
  12. Maintain accurate individual and team statistics, records, and results of the activity.
  13. Maintain an accurate and current team roster and submits copies to the Director of Activities. 
  14. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning colleagues, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.

 

At-Will Position: 

  • This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Director of Activities or Superintendent.
