Work Agreement: 260 days; 8 hours per day

Hourly Pay: Starts at $23.15 and is based on related experience 

 

Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for an Information Technology Support Technician to begin immediately. This is a full-time position.Benefits include full family health insurance, public employees retirement, long-term disability insurance, and sick and personal leave. This position is open until filled. 

 

Essential Requirements:

  1. Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  2. Satisfactory completion of criminal background check
  3. Prior experience with Mosyle, Microsoft Intune, or Google Workspace is desirable
  4. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
  5. Familiarity with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  6. Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and wireless technologies.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  8. Customer service-oriented mindset with a passion for supporting students, teachers, and staff in their use of technology.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  10. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

Job Tasks:

 

  1. Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems. 
  2. Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors. 
  3. Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications. 
  4. Oversee the daily performance of computer systems. 
  5. Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. 
  6. Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities. 
  7. Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support. 
  8. Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications. 
  9. Develop training materials and procedures, or train users in the proper use of hardware or software. 
  10. Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
  11. With consent, upon request of the superintendent, accept other responsibilities that are not now identified but that seem to relate to the general delegation statement.
  12. Provide technical support to students, teachers, and staff via phone, email, or in-person to resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  13. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with computers, tablets, printers, interactive whiteboards, and other classroom technology equipment.
  14. Assist with the setup and maintenance of classroom technology infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, projectors, and audiovisual equipment.
  15. Collaborate with school administrators, IT staff, and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues and implement technology initiatives.
  16. Maintain accurate records of support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions using help desk ticketing systems.
  17. Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in educational technology and IT support.
  18. Assist with the inventory management of technology assets, including computers, peripherals, and software licenses.

At-Will Position: 

  • This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.
