Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for an Information Technology Support Technician to begin immediately. This is a full-time position.Benefits include full family health insurance, public employees retirement, long-term disability insurance, and sick and personal leave. This position is open until filled.
Essential Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background check
- Prior experience with Mosyle, Microsoft Intune, or Google Workspace is desirable
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Familiarity with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android operating systems.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and wireless technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a passion for supporting students, teachers, and staff in their use of technology.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Job Tasks:
- Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
- Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
- Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
- Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
- Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
- Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
- Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
- Develop training materials and procedures, or train users in the proper use of hardware or software.
- Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
- With consent, upon request of the superintendent, accept other responsibilities that are not now identified but that seem to relate to the general delegation statement.
- Provide technical support to students, teachers, and staff via phone, email, or in-person to resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with computers, tablets, printers, interactive whiteboards, and other classroom technology equipment.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of classroom technology infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, projectors, and audiovisual equipment.
- Collaborate with school administrators, IT staff, and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues and implement technology initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions using help desk ticketing systems.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in educational technology and IT support.
- Assist with the inventory management of technology assets, including computers, peripherals, and software licenses.
